were would you rather go
if hawaii then what island
i went to oahu last summer waikiki beach is AMAZING and would love to go there any day anytimeits so warm and the water is very very clean
but i sorta want to go to south beach and miami in florida becuase it sounds cool

i also want to learn how to surf, get tan, bodyboard, shop and have fun
what would you recommend and where would you rather go!

Hawaii For sure. Florida is way overrated unless you enjoy spring break with drunken phonies and dont forget the dirty sand and too many ants and roaches Miami sucks but Ft lauuderdale is a great place for maybe a weekend just to see for yourself but it gets old really quick. And also no surf in florida worth surfing unless you like cold Atlantic water.

BODYBOARDING - HAWAII CALIFORNIA MEXICO

Need a new bodyboard.?

Hi I live on the island of Maui, Hawaii. I go to big beach all the time what is the best board for me.

If you're a beginner, I would suggest you to try out the low end one first to see whether if you really do love bodyboarding. But if you decide to get serious about bodyboarding and if you can afford the cost of it. I would suggest you buy the Custom X, Number 6, or Wave Rebel. Custom X is the most expensive brand out there, about $200+.

About the style of riding, there are a drop knee style or a prone style. Drop knee style board is designed much thicker at the tail and no crest at the bottom. But it's not very easy to master the skill. About the prone style, there are 2 types of boards, crescent tail or bat tail. Crestcent tail is mainly to go FAST AND FURIOUS and straight across whether in the barrels or on the shoulder waves...yes I do mean FAST AND FURIOUS if you catch on a 6 foot wave or bigger (I had the best rides of my life during this past weekend). If you want to buy a crescent tail, go for the Wave Rebel brand, they have a very deep channel at the bottom of the board, trust me, I went about like a freaking 10 mph on an 8 foot wave on this past friday. It's a freaking adrenaline rush with a little of dare devil inside every rider that I've seen this past week on the beach and that made the rest of the day a little brighter. I could see the expression on the people's face with an "awww" look with their jaws open. If you want to do all kinds of tricks like 360, invert back flip, el rollo...etc, I would suggest you go with the bat tail style, it would give you a better manuver that the crescent tail in term of doing all kinds of turns. Most of the Custom X designs are the bat tail style, the boards have thick, dense foam with either 1 or 2 metal core inside to prevent the board from bending when experiencing a high impact.

You want to buy the types of fins that will make you feel comfortable in the water....Well, most of the high end fins would give you a good thrust in water, but there is a trade off. Since they give a good thrust in the water, that means they have to be very stiff and uncomfortable and easy to cause leg cramps. Solution: buy a pair of booths to give your feet a little more cushion when paddling in the water. Try to jog everyday, at least 15 minutes to strenghten your calf muscle on your legs, so that you don't get a leg cramps when you have to paddle so hard in the water. Churchill fins are about $50, Vipers (the best) are about $70 or more, depending on different types of Viper fins.

To choose the appropriate board's size for your height and weight, refer to this size chart link below.

Last but not least:

"It's not just what kind of bodyboard you own that will make the difference in your performance, but it's your skill level that will bring out the best within you!"....The Heart Of Asia!

I personally own the Wave Rebel board about $150 + $25 leash and $ 50 Churchill fins and love to go FAST AND FURIOUS and still be able to do 360 degree with the crescent tail. I caught up with the guy next to me that also on the same wave and it got the point that I was afraid I would collide into him, because my board went much faster than his bat tail board, so that should tell you the advantage of the crescent tail board, but at same time his bat tail board could do some tricks better than my crescent tail board. So there is a sacrifice of speed if you want to go for bat tail and vice versa. But the professional bodyboarders, they would have no problem doing all kinds of tricks with the crescent tail boards.
