How Often Should I wax My Freestyle Board?
well i mostly only do Freestyle/park/pipe and i was just wondering how often i should wax my board. I just got my new board (ride dh) and went out for the 2nd time of the year and it kinda got marked up on the base from my boardslide.
so if you guys can help me out and explain to me on how many times i should wax it because i dont want the base to get worn apart.
if you mostly ride park you can get away without waxing your board for a long time. its all personal preference, if you like a quick base (most park guys don't) then you need to wax it more frequently like every 10 rides. I know several guys who haven't waxed their board in two years and they prefer it like that. as for the marks don't worry about them, if you get big gouges you might want to buy some ptex and drip it in to fix them but if your riding park that going to happen so you might as well get used to it, waxing it a lot won't really help that much. park riding is really hard on snowboards

Should I learn to wax my board or get it done?
I'm starting snowboarding and I have all the equipment (mostly, just need a new coat and a stomp pad). Should I learn how to wax my board or should I get it done by a shop? Also, how often does it need to be done?
Waxing a board is super easy. If you can tie your shoes, then you have more than enough technical ability to wax your own board. Paying someone else, or a machine to wax your set up is sorta a waste, not just because of the money but because you never learn. you should get to know your board, and start to understand what you like. Know how often you need waxes, know what degrees you like for your edges, understand how to do repairs and everything else too. Man up and DIY.
