what style Sex Wax should I get for my surfboard this summer?
I hear it's gonna be really warm again. I surf the Bethany Beach area (east coast, USA) I've always been using Sticky Bumps, but it's just ticking me off how gooey it gets. Want to try Mr. Zog's S.W. this year, any suggestions? And what the heck is the difference between the original, Quick Humps, and Really Tacky?
Mr. Zog’s S.W. comes in four formulations:
Cold Water (58F (14C) or lower) - Green Label
Cool Water (56F - 68F (13C - 20C))- Orange Label
Warm Water (66F - 78F (19C – 26C))- Red Label
Tropical Water (75F (24C) and above)- Blue Label
Which Mr. Zog’s S.W. to use will be based on the water temperature and whether you intend to use a single wax application or a base coat/top coat application.
For single coat application, just use the appropriate Mr. Zog’s S.W. based on water temperature.
For base coat/top coat application, use the following combinations of base coat and top coat depending upon water temperatures mentioned above:
Cold Water – Red Label base & Green Label top
Cool Water – Red Label base & Green Label top
Warm Water – Blue Label base & Orange Label top
Tropical Water – Blue Label base & Red Label top
The difference between Quick Humps (single coat) and Really Tacky (single coat or base coat/top coat) is a matter of usage and personal preference. Some people swear by the products, others swear at them. The only way to really know if you like either or both or that they meet your needs and conditions is to try them. If they work for you, use them. If they don’t, then don’t.
