why do whiite people like doing dangerous unnecessary activities like sky diving, bungee jumping?
kayaking, dangerous skateboarding maneouvres, surfing, etc and they are genuinely surprised when they die doing these stuffs
i mean look at STEVE FOSSETT with all those billions. now he dead and cannot enjoy his money because of these unecessary activities. what kinda sense does that make ?
I guess a lot of these white people who like these dangerous activities have a too calm life and they look for excitement in other ways. :S
I wouldn't do any of the above mentioned though.
I hope he left some of his money to charities for those whose lives are at the other end of the spectrum i.e too much danger and poverty

How do I prevent the board from nose diving while surfing?
I'm a beginner surfer using a 7'6" board, I'm 140lbs and 5'11" (in case that has anything to do with it). My main focus right now is attempting to ride the face of the wave, I can ride wave breaks just fine. I can catch waves as well, its just riding the face that is difficult. A lot of the time I end up nose diving, is it just a matter of how much weight I'm putting forward? Will a 6'3" intermediate board be better for this? Or will that nose dive more often?
I'm nose diving on the take off. Its possible I'm not paddling enough.
The board is probably fine for you, at your stage. You are 'pearling' and it happens to everyone once in a while. You need to angle your take off, paddling diagonally toward the beach, moving in the same direction the wave is breaking. You are probably paddling straight in now. Also, the larger and steeper the wave, the faster you have to 'pop up' to your feet and take control of the board, either making a 'bottom turn', or cutting directly across the face, depending on where you are positioned in relation to the shoulder when you take off.
The others may be right, that you are too far forward, but I suspect that it is more likely your angle of take off. If you move too far back, you will stall rather than take off, and you'll paddle all day with getting any rides.
I have been surfing since 1966, and I think that the best answer for this, is to have one of your more experienced surf buddies watch you while your surfing, and let him/her make suggestions based on what they see you doing. It will be a lot more accurate than what you get from a bunch of strangers over the computer.
