Wake Surfing Surfboard
What size surfboard should I get?
Im 6'2 190, and I just fell in love with surfing. Like i said im not pro or even good, but I pick up boardsports rather quickly. Im decent at wake, snow and skating. Help
Please help surfing gurus. I want a shortboard, and i have a 500 dollar limit
What you need a surfboard that floats you well enough to paddle and catch a wave at your PRESENT SKILL LEVEL at YOUR PRESENT SIZE. We don't know anywhere near enough about you, or where you surf. And, we don't have any opportunity for dialogue. And you need to be perfectly honest about your actual ability.
If you are just beginning, keep in mind that lessons are the best way to start. Lessons can come from a professional instructor, or surfing family members or experienced surfing friends. You have to learn surf etiquette (so the experienced surfers in the line up don't want to drown you), how to paddle and take off on a wave, and how to ride a wave. The last thing experienced surfers want is for inexperienced people to just grab a board, rush into the surf and get in our way. Lessons shorten the learning curve significantly. And they help keep ignorant, un-prepared kooks out of the water and out of the way of more experienced surfers.
Almost ALL instructors will start you off on a longboard. It is just too difficult for most people to learn how to surf on a short board. Most get quickly discouraged, and just quit. Now, over the years, I have seen some young surfers start out on short boards and master them in time. There are no RULES on what kind of board you learn on, but it's just common sense to learn on a long board.
Don't waste your time on line, we don't know anywhere nearly enough about you, or where you surf, how well you surf and we don't have an opportunity to discuss these things with you. We aren't your surfing buddies, we don't necessarily surf where you or know anybody who does. Go to a good local surf shop (or a shop where ever you usually surf) and discuss your options with the folks in the shop. They can give you far better advice than anybody out here in 'cyberspace'.
Anybody who would give you SPECIFIC advice as to what size or type board to buy on-line is foolish. Anybody who would take that advice is more foolish
And, I know there are lots of nice kids who want to share information with you on line. But don't take the advice from youngsters, who may know even less than you do about surfing, a surfboard is a big investment. I hope you are mature enough to read through the BS that lots of people throw at you on line.

Wakeboard Vests for Any Water Sport
Life jackets, or live vests, must be used with most all water sports to be participating safely. This is true for everything from wakeboarding to wake surfing. There is always the potential danger of hitting your head and becoming unconscious. The personal flotation device (pfd) you have on could mean life or death in certain situations. One of the great things about most wakeboarding vests is they are made to contour the body more and in turn are much more comfortable and less bulky than most traditional life vests.
Many people who enjoy the sport of wake surfing love using a lightweight wakeboard vest instead of a typical bulky life vest. For those that don't know, wake surfing is done by driving the boat very slow (around 10mph) in order to put off a very large wake. Typically the weight will be distributed towards one side in order to create an even bigger wave on the side of the boat that the rider will be surfing. A wake surfboard looks a lot like a miniature ocean surf board. The wake surfer starts by holding it against their feet as the boat pulls them out of the water, no bindings needed! The rope that is used is only about 10 ft long so the surfer ends up right behind the boat in the meat of the big wave.
Once the surfer is up and riding, they enter the side of the wake and start surfing, just like they were in the ocean. Once you really get a hang of this sport, you can actually throw the rope back into the boat, but continue surfing because of the forces of the wave! Many wake surfers like to have a the lightest possible wakeboarding vest when riding a wave. This is due simply to the fact that it is a super chill sport and the less weight and bulkiness, the better. It would be extremely difficult to knock yourself out while surfing, so flotation is not a huge concern.
Now that you know a little bit more about surfing, and the wakeboarding vests of choice you have the information needed to get going and start surfing safely!

what an idiot. why in the world you anyone ever do that? at least make a makeshift emergency lanyard and attach to your wrist in case you fall.
A doctor wont usually give you a C section unless they deem it's medically necessary, or you can pay for it privately. A Cesarean is major surgery, which takes a lot of time to get over, and you have the added risks of anaesthetic and something going wrong during the surgery. Giving birth naturally is scary, but you need to remember that women have been doing it for millions of years, and our bodies are built to do it. Yes, you vagina obviously stretches to let the baby out, but it goes back to normal and you're very young, so that will help things get back in shape quicker. You need to remember that you will be in good hands when you're having your baby, and to trust the medical professionals who will be taking care of you.
As for your husband, well, he sounds like a douche, 20 isn't that young, he is an adult and should be able to act like one, especially if he's going to be a father. Are your parents and family supportive of you, because I think your going to need them. You can't trick your husband into being there for you and the baby, either he will or he wont. If he's still acting like this after the birth you may want to re evaluate your relationship with him, your baby doesn't need some selfish immature idiot, he or she needs a dad.
